Magical Varkala

Varkala is a coastal town situated around 50 kms from Trivandrum city. Varkala is renowned for its beautiful Papanasam beach and also the cliff formations which are known as Varkala formations. The Janardana Swamy temple which is believed to be around 2000 years old is also in Varkala and quite close to the beach. The famous Sivagiri matt established by the renowned social reformer Sree Narayana Guru is also at Varkala.
I have been to Varkala a number of times as it is pretty close to Trivandrum. Also the place has a special charm which keeps attracting me to the place again and again. The beach is very neat and the view from atop the cliffs is simply awesome. There are a number of shacks on the cliff where you can just sit and relax after taking a dip in the sea.

  2. Kumar sir, there are a lot of hotels on the cliff facing the sea ranging from rooms behind shacks to resorts like Clafouti. I don't know the exact rates as I haven't stayed at Varkala. I will enquire about the hotels and their rates and update the same in the blog itself.
